ward party 2010

We had a chili cookoff at the ward party last night. It was a lot of fun! It was stormy and windy for some of the time, and perfectly sunny at other times. Perfect night for a chili cookoff. The rainbow was the highlight!

They had a candy cannon for the kids, and this is Evelyn waiting in the rain. She didn't know what she was waiting for, she just wanted to be around al the kids running around!

Right before the cannon blew! Once all the candy came flying out, I couldn't take a picture because Evie was in my arms from the big bang of the cannon!
Here are the kids running to gather candy. What a fun night!

summer is ending

okay, so it's about 100 degrees outside, but with school starting on Monday, it feels like summer is coming to an end! Yesterday, Evie got to play in the water. She loves putting on her "whim-hoot" and it was about 98 degrees outside, so we pulled out the hose and off she went. She had a blast! This first picture is of her trying to turn the hose. She couldn't figure out how to turn it AWAY from her. Everytime she would try, it would get her in the face! So funny, but she never gave up! The other day, our neighbor (who is a grandma and who doesn't speak very much english), came to our door. She said, "I made this for you". It was this darling doll with blond hair like Evie's and the dress she crocheted -- with a hat and all! What a neat and sweet gift from her! We just love them. They are so kind to us, and so precious with Evelyn. What a fun treasure!

Mutual activity scavenger hunt

Tonight for mutual, we went on a bigger or better scavenger hunt. We had enough youth to divide into 3 teams (5,5, & 6 people each) and drove around the ward. Each team started with a paper clip, and went to a house and asked if they had something that was bigger or better than the paperclip. They then traded "up" to whatever the person handed them, and left the previous item with that person. The point it to see who comes back after 45 minutes (and/or) 5 houses with something that is the biggest or the "bestest"! One team showed up with a pool (but they didn't understand the rules, and didn't know we weren't returning things), another with a liter bottle of root beer and another with a wooden cart.

The team with the pool had to go back and back-track to all the homes trading back in their winnings...
Here's the winning team with their wooden cart!
This team loved their root beer! Fun night!

paper wreath for door

I took off my americana decor and realized that I don't have an in-between-seasons-door hanging...so I made one. This is made from a paperback book, foam wreath from the dollar store and paper flowers folded accordian style. I then attached it to a stick with tulle and tied a metal hanger to that with twine. TA-DA! Now, it will last through August and September. I might just add some more spooky stuff to it once October hits...Sky's the limit.

sister's trip

I get on my sister's computer and find a few more pictures I want to post from our sister's trip. This is me, brenda and Rach waiting at the base of the park city ski resort.
The trip wouldn't be complete without a trip to Granny's for a HUGE shake!

Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point

Evelyn & I went to Farm Country yesterday with Garrett, Jackie, Eli Aunt Kristel & Grandma Kathy. She had so much fun seeing all the animals. She was so excited that I barely could snap photos of her face. She was moving from place to place there was so much to see!
Jackie & Evie holding hands.
She stayed on the horse for about 10 seconds, and then was done.
We went on a wagon ride with jackie and garrett. The driver moved right in the way of the horses right as I took the shot!
